Eat - Food & Drink in Krabi

Krabi has a fantastic selection of quality restaurants to suit all budgets and tastes, from tempting Thai food stalls to fancy foreign bistros. Unsurprisingly, Krabi cuisine is heavily influenced by the fresh seafood and exotic fruits of the region and Birds Nest Soup is a regional delicacy.

Thai cuisine – Krabi Town is a must for lovers of Thai food. In addition to traditional food stalls where you can watch in delicious anticipation, your Pad Thai being prepared before your very eyes, there are an abundance of exceptional Thai restaurants. A firm favorite with Krabi locals (in our opinion the hallmark of an authentic menu) is the impressive Ruan Thip where you can appreciate live music along with mouth watering regional specialties. The tropical gardens and sublime cooking at popular Ruan Mai conspire to make a memorable dining experience, but if budget is more important than ambiance, try Jao Sau, located just outside town and serving amazing food at incredible prices. And, although the best Thai restaurants are generally concentrated in Krabi Town, Orchid Garden and Ton Sai in Ao Nang are fine exceptions that offer good, honest Thai dishes and superb value for money.

International cuisine – it’s hard to tire of the fragrant and varied Thai menu, but if you crave something a little less fiery or fancy a taste of home, then Krabi hits the spot again with an imaginative selection of international restaurants. Whilst Krabi Town is a favorite destination for Thai food fans, don’t overlook the superb Viva, an Italian restaurant that makes pizza so good might momentarily believe you are in Napoli! Busy tourist resort and expat stomping ground Ao Nang showcases a global selection restaurants dishing up menus from Italy, France, Germany, Japan, India and you can even fill up on typical British pub grub! Recommended restaurants include the Boat, a cosy French Bistro with its own petanque court, Sala Bua an elegant beachfront Italian with an impressive wine list and the recently opened Long Tail Boat, another classy Italian directly on the beach. For more simple Italian fare try the Blue House renowned for its excellent Caesar Salad, or the Spaghetti House, famous for generous helpings of tasty pasta. Confirmed carnivores should head to the Last Fisherman which hosts delicious barbecues in a romantic setting on the white sands of Ao Nang beach or the aptly named Carnivore which serves the best steaks in town!
